Very important aspect of the Institute is international cooperation. The Institute focuses on the region, and not on a specific country. This gives important advantage in the following two directions. First we can have access to experts and professional from numerous countries, and therefore enrich our knowledge base. Second, we have a greater scope of influence and reach a greater number of organizations in different countries. International cooperation is also an important role of the European Union, where each countries success is merely measured by mutual competitiveness of the EU. Social and political stability is much influenced by efficient and successful health systems.

There are several international networks existing in the Region, which will be fostered and presented via Institute in Slovenia. The potential of the network cooperation will be available to the Slovene and international companies. The well established Sm@rt Region and the Academy for Innovation and Technology Transfer will be used as a starting point for spreading international cooperation of the Institute with companies in the Region, using the advantages of mutual cooperation in various projects (example: Energy efficiency in Hospitals, etc.)
